I created the Fantasy Village For Feathered Friends sculpture to appeal to the child in all of us. Some of the buildings are functional, while others are whimsical. My goal was to put a smile on your face.
A combination of reclaimed lumber from a friend’s farm in Chatham County and new cedar are the primary materials used. Detailed assorted metal roofs enhance the buildings.
The base is constructed of 4″x4″ solid cedar frame with 2″ x 2″ slats to provide drainage away from the buildings. For added charm I used figures of a family, created from recycled scrap metal, by Kathryn Arnett from Tucson, AZ. The wrought iron stand which the base sits on, was created by my friend and fellow artist Forrest Greenslade from Pittsboro, NC. I HOPE YOU ENJOY!
